Gabon Ebony, an absolutely beautiful jet black wood.  It is unlike any other, and is the most rare wood in the industry.

Used mostly for instruments, carvings, and woodworking accents, I decided to make them into one of a kind chopsticks.  This is an incredibly dense hardwood that makes it difficult to carve. This also gives it a different finished look compared to most of my other chopstick pairs.  I can only take short carving swipes which leaved these with a look that resembles hammered steel, rather than the long divots I can take out of other species with a single knife cut.

This is the species I use as my personal chopsticks at home. I absolutely love them!

These are all truly hand carved.  Once I cut the blanks to size, (9" unless a custom request is made) I use nothing but a thumb knife to shape them, which can be seen in the angles edges and sides.  Most sellers use a chop stick making jig, which is a box designed to shave the sides of blanks into tapered chopsticks that all look identical.  Each of my sets is truly unique, as each knife stroke makes them unlike any other. The blade is so sharp that it creates such a smooth surface no sandpaper is needed before sealing.

I have a limited number available of each wood type, and when they are sold out, I do not know when I will get around to making them out of this species of wood again.

Each one of these pairs takes me roughly one hour from start to finish. They are coated with multiple layers of a food safe shellac finish that is 100% waterproof.  If well maintained these chopsticks will last you a very long time. Years of regular usage.

These are NOT cooking chopsticks.  They can handle lower heat associated with eating, but long term exposure to boiling liquids or a frying pan above 170 degrees will harm the finish.  The finish is food safe  and not a danger, but it can discolor the wood and destroy the waterproof properties.

I can create cooking chopsticks upon request that are larger and with a different finish upon request.

These are hand wash only.  please check my reviews to see happy customers, and feel free to ask me any questions you may have.
