Made entirely of Canarywood, one of the most beautiful wood species around. Canarywood is on the harder end of the spectrum for a cutting board, but still within the recommended species list for this use. Bein that it is a harder wood, it will require less upkeep and maintenance compared to other woods used for butcher blocks. less frequent oiling and refinishing, but more frequent sharpening of your knives.
This is an uncommon item I make, so this may be a one and done. I wanted to replace my personal plastic cutting boards at home, and I bought enough lumber to make two of these. So one for me, one for you! I don't know if I'll ever buy canarywood for this purpose again, so grab it while you can.
This is a sturdy butcher block.
10.5" long
9.875" wide
1.625" thick
DO:
Hand wash with cool or warm water. Towel Dry immediately.
DO NOT:
Do not allow your wooden cutting boards to air dry, especially softer wood species. Air drying leaves water on the surface to soak into your cutting board. over time this will cause it to warp, crack, and wear much much faster. DO NOT ever clean your cutting boards, or any wooden utensils in a dishwasher. Moisture deteriorates wood. Moisture and heat are evils in the world of woodworking.
Wooden items require maintenance to make them last. The frequency of maintenance depends on the wood species and how frequent you use your item. A general rule is to oil your cutting board/utensils when they appear to look dry. With proper maintenance and occasional refinishing a butcher block like this one should last 20+ years.
