Belle's Library
Belle's Library
I started this painting in June of 2019, got distracted, got frustrated, got annoyed with every tiny little book color, etc. and so forth. Five and a half months later we're pushing into December and I finally had it finished.
This was an original watercolor "inktense" painting of the Library in Beast's Castle. I have put close to 50 hours into this painting. Granted much of that was while sitting in front of the TV with frequent breaks to play with my dog, there was still a considerable amount of time and effort that went into this.
The original was done as an 18x24 on 300#, cold pressed, 100% cotton paper. It is a mixture of watercolor paints, and inktense watercolor pencil, to get the exact colors and blends I wanted.
All prints up to 13x19 I do myself. I print only with Red River paper, and use a specific type of cold pressed canvas paper, that has a physical feel and look of canvas on the image side, while actually being made from cold pressed cotton. After testing multiple different paper types, this is what I feel gives the best presentation and look for my watercolor paintings.
Canvas prints are done on 1.25" thick stretcher bars made from wider than normal wood pieces to prevent warping over time. I actually love the printing company I use so much so that I have stopped using transfer paper to sketch my original artwork, and I have started having my basic sketchwork for my paintings printed and shipped to me rather than dealing with the lower quality blank canvas I find locally at art stores to paint on. These are high quality prints!
